A Brief, Reliable, Rundown of the Investment Banking Recruiting Market

Yo- November marks the winding down of the recruiting season. This year it never really got going except if you were an MD. It picked up slightly post Labor Day but now it feels quiet.

RECRUITING TIPS FOR THE OUT OF WORK:

  • Take the job if you have the offer. The market will not rebound until mid Q1.

  • Joining a bank is better than a boutique in this market because there are more products to sell. Unless its an elite boutique you are better off at a full-service bank with M&A, Capital Markets, RX and/or lending.

  • DO NOT pay for resume review services or pay to speak with a recruiter.

  • Taking a step back in class year can be a good thing. Especially if you are switching sectors.
